Immigrant crime rates

Immigrant crime rates

Here are some seldom seen numbers … comparisons of immigrant crime rates vs native born American crime rates – and guess who’s better behaved!

The graph above and the article that is linked to below are actually from two different studies but cover the same subject. I’ve pulled out a few facts from the article but please read it for yourself: PDF from the website www.policefoundation.org.

Here’s the opening lines from the article: “The perception that the foreign-born, especially “illegal aliens,” are responsible for higher crime rates is deeply rooted in American public opinion and is sustained by media anecdote and popular myth.” … “Such stereotypes, reinforced through popular movies and television programs and fueled by media coverage of singular events, project an enduring image of immigrant communities permeated by criminal elements.”

The following facts and numbers are from the year 2000 census and other sources. Remember, the high point of illegal immigration was in 2000, before 9/11 occurred.

For all males 18-39:
Overall percent in jail = 3.04%
For immigrants only = 0.68%
For native born only = 3.51%
Immigrants are 4 1/2 times less likely to end up in jail than are native born Americans. And that isn’t anyone’s opinion – it’s a fact.

Chicago looses bid for 2016 Olympics

Filed under: General, Immigration, Politics — Jim @ 7:06 pm

The United States was eliminated from consideration for the 2016 Olympic games in the first round of voting by the Olympics committee. In other words, we came in last. It was mentioned by a few that one of the reasons was the difficulties that are encountered by foreigners when trying to get a visa to enter the US.

Part of that is caused by our fear of terrorists (gee isn’t that exactly what they want … to cause fear and terror?). But part of it is also caused by our fears of illegal immigration. We really need total reform of our immigration system now! It is costing us in ways that we never imagined.

A Politician with ethics?

Filed under: Gay, General, Immigration, Politics — Jim @ 7:00 pm

Mayor Lown - gay republican
This one is almost too good to believe … but IT IS TRUE!

The mayor of San Angelo, Texas, has resigned just ten days after a landslide re-election victory to pursue his relationship with his gay partner, an illegal immigrant from Mexico. J W Lown was elected in 2003 as the city’s youngest ever mayor at the age of 32. He has been re-elected three times, gaining 89 per cent of the latest vote, held ten days ago.

Lown said he had chosen not to take the oath of office while “aiding and assisting” a person who was illegally in the country.

“I made the final decision when I knew it was the right decision to make for me and my partner and our future – and for the community,” he said. Lown hopes to eventually return to the US with his partner.

“I don’t know how long this is going to take. It could take months. It could take years, but I’m prepared to wait as long as it takes,” he said.
“It wasn’t a decision that any U.S. citizen should have to make,” former Mayor J.W. Lown said in an interview from Mexico. “I left a home. I left a ranch. I left a promising political career.”

Here is a politician that actually seems to be honest and to have ethics and he is leaving the country because he can’t be with his partner otherwise. A sad state of affairs when we lose promising talented people because of stupid laws.

Yes, Even Illegal Aliens Pay Taxes

Filed under: General, Immigration, Politics — Jim @ 10:39 am

Social Security payments being made by immigrants
Many people are calling for the deportation of the estimated eight to fifteen million undocumented immigrants that are in our country claiming that these aliens are mooching off of the system, that they take but give nothing back, that they don’t pay their fair share.

Well … I grant that there is a little truth to those statements … but only a little. Read on and you’ll see why.

Illegal Aliens – what makes them illegal?

Filed under: General, Immigration, Politics — Jim @ 6:30 pm

Illegal Alien - green card
Just what laws have they violated that earns them the title of “Illegal Immigrant”?

Surprisingly the law against entering this country without permission is a simple misdemeanor. The punishment for it is up to 6 months in jail and a civil penalty of up to $250. It can become a felony on subsequent prosecutions. Don’t believe me? Read the law for yourself.

But not all “illegal immigrants” crossed our borders without permission! Well over a million (maybe two) are here as a result of overstaying their visas. They come from all over the world and entered the United States legally on tourist, student or other type of visas and just didn’t leave.

The rest of the story

Filed under: Complaints, General, Immigration, Politics — Jim @ 12:51 pm

Paul Harvey - The Rest of the Story
Some of you may recognize the title of this post from the Paul Harvey radio program. Today’s story is about immigrants and drunk driving – the horrible results.

In August of 2007 there were 2 deaths caused by drunk driving within 10 miles of where I live. Two separate accidents – 2 people killed needlessly. Both involving aliens (of unknown legal status).

The events:

* A police DWI checkpoint … a car approaches and then turns around … police give chase … the fleeing driver hits a moped with two people on it – one killed, one seriously injured.

* Two brothers waiting at a city bus stop … a car comes speeding around the curve, looses control and hits both men – one killed one still in intensive care.

Both of the drivers were drunk – neither of them had driver licenses – one had drugs – the other had several outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court.

In a Paul Harvey broadcast, about now you would be presented with the advice to stick around for the rest of the story after a word from our sponsors.

No commercials here!

Immigration – with whom do you stand?

Neo-Nazis protesting Hispanic immigration
That racist organization, the Ku Klux Klan, has been around here in the South since reconstruction. We are used to the KKK’s constant attacks on Blacks, Jews, Catholics and anything not WASPish. Thanks to their latest rallying cry against illegal aliens they have been expanding in both numbers of members and in geographic areas where they operate. And this time they are joined by Neo-Nazis as well!

Immigration quotas

Filed under: General, Humor, Immigration, Politics — Jim @ 10:05 pm

Salma Hayek - Mexican immigrant
It’s funny but it’s true at the same time – below is a post made by someone going by the name of BlackFive:

Here is a hypothetical situation: You are the new Director of the INS. Imagine you had a quota – say 100 new immigrants per day to allow into the USA. When allowing people into the country, you have to choose between Mexicans and Arabs/Muslims, and you ask yourself the following questions:

    1. Travel: When looking up at the sky, upon seeing an airplane, do I worry that some crazy Mexicans have just hijacked it?

    2. Weaponry: When at the hardware store, do I worry about the Mexicans buying box cutters for a use other than cutting boxes?

    3. Quality of Life: Do I like Tequila more than…more than…oh well, do I like Tequila?

    4. Jihad: Most Mexicans are Catholic, right? Has the Pope or any of his minions recently declared Jihad on America? Has Vicente Fox recently declared Jihad? Hhhhm…How about Salma Hayek? Mmmm…Salma.

    5. Salma: Thinking of Salma, would you rather have Salma Hayek enter the country or …?

Ponder these questions, and I believe you’ll see why I am all for Mexicans…let ‘em in I say.

But they’re here illegally!

Statue of Liberty
I am sick and tired of people saying that those immigrants that entered the US without benefit of papers are lawbreakers and using this to defend their stances! These people say that they aren’t against the immigrants but rather against the criminals who crossed our borders illegally.

Either they aren’t very old or they are too something to remember that black people (formerly called Negroes in polite society) couldn’t use certain restrooms or sit down in certain places in America – by law. Or perhaps they have forgotten that in more recent times you could be arrested for being gay in America. Just because it’s the law doesn’t mean it is just or right!

KKK backs Vernon Robinson for Congress

Filed under: General, Immigration, Politics — Jim @ 10:36 am

KKK backs Vernon Robinson for Congress
That is the headline I keep expecting to see in a morning newspaper.

Vernon Robinson’s far right positions on things like guns, abortion, gays and immigration have managed to confuse even this professional hate group. Can you imagine the Ku Klux Klan giving their support and political backing to a black man? It may happen any day now and I’m sure Vernon will welcome the Klan’s support. He simply doesn’t care what it takes to get elected.

I’m not saying that Mr. Robinson is a member of the Klan (I doubt if they would have him – they do have standards!) but he does share most of their ideals. He is not what North Carolina or this country needs. Vernon Robinson is supported by almost every extremist group out there but he is not supported by anyone here in North Carolina who understands what he is.

Illegal US Immigration

Filed under: Complaints, General, Immigration, Politics — Jim @ 6:35 pm

Crossing the border
I am totally fed up with the blaming of all of America’s ills on the flow of illegal aliens from south of the border! The people spouting this crap are either bigots or seriously don’t understand the situation. I live in North Carolina and we actually have a rather large population of Mexican and some Central American immigrants. And it is true that many of these are here illegally. Why are they here illegally?
