Gay Adoptions

Filed under: Complaints, General, Politics, Religion — Jim @ 8:56 pm

Today I saw a bit on the news about gay adoptions. It was fairly well balanced but it never came out and said something that should be said. The news did say that about 50% of the kids that are eligible for adoption never make it into a permanent home. They get bounced around in the system til adulthood.

How can anyone think that this is better for a child than being raised in a permanent loving environment? Even if that environment is the home of 2 gay men or 2 gay women it is better for a child than the alternative of a childhood of not being wanted by anyone! I maintain that a gay couple can raise a child as well as a male and female husband and wife but, even if you can’t believe that yourself you should at least be able to recognize and admit that a gay couple would do a better job than the “system”!

When there are no longer children that no one wants, then they can limit adoptions by Gays.

The Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota

The Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills of South Dakota
Last month I went to South Dakota. It was for a family reunion but, while I was there, I played tourist as well. One of the many sights in the Black Hills is the Crazy Horse Memorial. If you are not familiar with it, it is a sculpture of the indian chief Crazy Horse worked into the top of a mountain. It is on a even larger scale than Mt. Rushmore (the US presidents carved into a mountain).

I had long heard about this and thought it a wonderful project. Upon seeing it, and the associated visitors center and museum, I have radically changed my mind. It is nothing more than a tourist trap being operated under the guise of a good work.

Gay Marriage amendment

Filed under: General, Politics — Jim @ 12:16 pm

Last Wednesday the US Senate voted down a proposed amendment to the US Constitution that would have prohibited gay marriages. The fact that this bill was even voted on is politics at its worst!

The amendment was certain to fail – there was no way it would get the required 67 out of 100 votes. It was brought up strictly as a political action. It was used to distract the country from more serious issues such as the War – Gas prices – and so that those who voted against it could be smeared as supporters of Gay marriage. The Senate should be working on real issues – not trying to tear down States’ Rights by writing discrimination into the US Constitution.

The Republicans that sponsored this mess should be ashamed for catering to the religious fanatics that are calling for this backward movement. The amendment isn’t needed anyway since states that don’t want to have gay marriage are already protected from the laws of other states by the Defense of Marriage Act.

On the Duke Univ. lacrosse team rape in Durham

Filed under: General, Politics — Jim @ 6:17 pm

What a huge pile of BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!

The girl that made the accusations needs to go to jail for a long long time and then be sued so she never has anything more than food to eat for the rest of her pitiful life!

Now that the lawyers for the students have started releasing the police reports and transcriptions of their interviews with witnesses. It comes out that the second dancer said the sexual assault report was a “CROCK”. She said that the 2 of them were never separated more than 5 minutes and that no rape could possibly have taken place. The police report also stated that the “victim” wanted to return to the house because there was “more money to be made”.

But the Durham County DA never reported these tidbits when he went after arrest warrants for the boys.

He too needs to be punished … at least for being an idiot!

In the arena of health –

Wednesday of this week was a fun one for me … after spending all of Tuesday without any solid food and taking laxatives all day long I got to get up at 6am on Wednesday and go to the hospital and take advantage of a 2 for 1 special. A endoscopy and a colonoscopy all in one visit. Oh what fun!!!!

About the lack of posts …

Filed under: General, Politics — Jim @ 5:39 pm

Ok … I really have been too quiet on here. The truth is that, while I have been busy, there just hasn’t been anything that interesting happening in my life. I’ve had things I wanted to say but they seemed too political. I’ve tried to keep politics out of my blog but there is just so much happening and so much that needs to be said I can’t stay quiet any longer.

The focus of my blog may be changing somewhat … I’m just going to let to grow in the direction that it grows and not worry about it!

I’ve been on vacation!

Just a quick note for now to say I’m back from a trip to South Dakota – attended a family reunion and visited the Badlands and Black Hills while there. More to come along with lots of photos.
