The lady doth protest too much, methinks

Republican bigotry
There is more and more evidence that my thinking on this one isn’t far from the truth … The most vocal homo-phobes (mostly republican) have a lot of skeletons in their very dark closets.

These closet-cases are hypocrites. A few examples:

Just in the last few days this one has come out … State Sen. Roy Ashburn, a California Republican and former State Assemblyman, is a father of four. He is a proud anti-gay lawmaker, voting against things like knocking down Prop 8, recognizing out-of-state gay marriages, and even creating Harvey Milk Day. Mr Ashburn is also a patron of Faces, a gay bar in Sacramento, where he was arrested on DUI charges after leaving the venue, with another man in his car.

Back in 2006 Evangelist, Ted Haggard was having fun with men while preaching against it. Ted Haggard was the pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado and was the president of the National Association of Evangelicals. In 2006 Haggard admitted to regularly visiting a male prostitute who also provided him with methamphetamine and resigned as pastor of New Life church and as president of the NAE. In January 2009, Haggard admitted to a second homosexual relationship with a male church member on CNN-TV and other national media, and when asked, would not directly answer a question about his other possible homosexual relationships.

A month later another preacher fell:
Paul Barnes is the founder and former senior minister of the 2100 member evangelical church, Grace Chapel in Douglas County, Colorado. He confessed to being homosexual to the church board, and his resignation was accepted on December 7, 2006.

Then of course there is Senator Larry Craig (R) of Idaho who was anti-gay as well … at least when he wasn’t hanging out in airport bathrooms soliciting undercover cops.

Hummmm … Republicans and preachers
